Forthave Negroni

I randomly came across Forthave on a recent trip to Brooklyn. I wandered into a tiny liquor store and poked around and saw these delightful looking bottles. The owner had some available for tastes and we ended up buying all of them. Red is not quite as bitter as Campari, but is a pretty close (and possibly the best) substitute you can find. The amaro definitely has a strong presence in this drink and isn’t as sweet as some, making it an interesting substitute for sweet vermouth. The end result is a fairly bitter, incredibly herbal, and not very sweet beverage. Does it give me the same feeling as a Negroni? Not quite, but it’s definitely very pleasing. Important note: I made this with the Single Batch One Amaro pictured, not their standard Marseille. That would likely be just as good, but we are definitely out of that.
