Chartreuse Negroni

I was originally introduced to this idea by J & Tony’s in San Diego. When it was initially proposed, I was already two Negronis and a glass of amaro in, so I did the responsible thing and came back the next day. I am definitely glad I did! This is not a combination I would have ever considered (despite loving both Negronis and Green Chartreuse). I think this is probably the farthest in taste from a traditional Negroni out of anything I normally make, but the way the Campari brings out the anise flavor that is otherwise fairly hidden in the Green Chartreuse is outstanding. For this one, I decided to break out the Green House Gin that we bought a while back. Green House is fairly botanical, with  juniper berries, cardamom, coriander, Sicilian bergamot, lemon, lime, orange, açai berry, and cucumber. I think it works better with a standard London Dry, but it is fun to experiment! I should note that the bartender at J & Tony’s called this a Super Negroni but I absolutely cannot call it that due to the Negroni that I will post next.

1 oz Gin (used Green House, recommend any London Dry)

1 oz Campari

1 oz Green Chartreuse
